Network Details

Mezo Testnet Configuration

  • Network Name: Mezo Testnet
  • RPC URL: https://rpc.test.mezo.org
  • Chain ID: 31611
  • Currency Symbol: BTC
  • Block Explorer: https://explorer.test.mezo.org

Add Network (Automatic)

The easiest way is to let KhipuVault add it automatically:

Visit KhipuVault

Go to khipuvault.com and connect your wallet.

Click "Wrong Network"

If you see a "Wrong Network" warning, click on it.

Approve Network Addition

MetaMask will ask to add Mezo Testnet. Click "Approve".

Switch to Mezo

MetaMask will ask to switch to the new network. Click "Switch network".

Verify

You should now see "Mezo Testnet" in your MetaMask network dropdown.

Add Network (Manual)

If automatic doesn't work, add it manually:

Open MetaMask

Click the MetaMask extension icon.

Click Network Dropdown

At the top of MetaMask, click the network dropdown (shows "Ethereum Mainnet" by default).

Click "Add Network"

Scroll down and click "Add network" or "Add a network manually".

Enter Network Details

Fill in the following:

Network Name: Mezo Testnet
RPC URL: https://rpc.test.mezo.org
Chain ID: 31611
Currency Symbol: BTC
Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.test.mezo.org

Save

Click "Save" to add the network.

Switch to Mezo

Select "Mezo Testnet" from the network dropdown.

Verify Connection

To confirm you're on the correct network:

  1. Open MetaMask
  2. Check the network name at the top
  3. It should say "Mezo Testnet"

βœ… You're ready! The network dropdown should show "Mezo Testnet" and your wallet address.

Understanding Networks

Think of blockchain networks like different countries' banking systems:

NetworkPurposeTokens
Ethereum MainnetReal ETH, real valueETH, USDC, etc.
Mezo TestnetTesting, no real valueTest BTC, MUSD
Mezo MainnetReal BTC, real valueBTC, MUSD (coming soon)

Testnet vs Mainnet: KhipuVault currently operates on Mezo Testnet, meaning all tokens are for testing only and have no real-world value. This is perfect for learning!

When we launch on mainnet, you'll use real Bitcoin.

Switching Networks

You can switch between networks anytime:

  1. Click MetaMask extension
  2. Click the network dropdown (top of popup)
  3. Select the network you want

Each network has separate balances, so your Ethereum Mainnet balance won't show on Mezo Testnet.

Troubleshooting

"Unable to Add Network"

  • Check your internet connection
  • Make sure RPC URL is correct: https://rpc.test.mezo.org
  • Try closing and reopening MetaMask

"Chain ID Already Exists"

You've already added Mezo Testnet! Just select it from the dropdown.

Transactions Not Going Through

  1. Verify you're on "Mezo Testnet"
  2. Make sure you have MUSD tokens (next step!)
  3. Check Mezo Block Explorer for network status

Wrong Network Warning on KhipuVault

If KhipuVault shows "Wrong Network":

  1. Open MetaMask
  2. Click network dropdown
  3. Select "Mezo Testnet"
  4. Refresh the page

Network Safety Tips

Security Reminder

  • βœ… Only add networks from official sources
  • βœ… Verify RPC URLs before adding
  • βœ… Never share your private keys or seed phrase
  • ❌ Don't add unknown networks from random websites

Next Steps

Perfect! You now have Mezo Testnet configured. Next, let's get some test tokens:

➑️ Get MUSD Tokens

After that, you'll be ready to make your first deposit!
